Chr., in dem Caesar erstmals das Amt des Konsuls bekleidete, gilt aus heutiger Perspektive als „feste Größe“ und „tiefer Einschnitt“ in der römischen Geschichte. Warum kommt dem ersten Konsulat Caesars so eine große Bedeutung zu? Ist die These Martin Jehnes zutreffend, das Konsulat sei der „Anfang vom Ende“ der römischen Republik?
Während Caesars Amtszeit im Jahre 59 wurde zweifellos der Grundstein für den Konflikt gelegt, der zehn Jahre später zum Ausbruch des Bürgerkriegs führte. Gegenstand dieser Hausarbeit wird es sein, aufzuzeigen, worin dieser Konflikt bestand und was ihn so ausweglos machte. Hier schließt sich die Frage an, ob es eine Alternative zu der Politik Caesars gegeben hätte. Kann man sagen, Caesar habe durch seine kompromisslose Haltung - denn das Kompromissangebot der Senatoren schlug er aus - die Republik zerstört? Welche Rolle spielte dabei wiederum das Verhalten der Senatsaristokratie? War zum Zeitpunkt des Konsulats Caesars eine ‚Rettung’ der Republik überhaupt noch möglich?
Zur Beantwortung dieser Fragen werde ich mich u. a. auf die Theorie Christian Meiers stützen, für den die Gründe des Niedergangs der Republik nicht in der persönlichen Unzulänglichkeit oder gar im ungebrochenen Willen Caesars zur Macht zu finden sind, sondern allein in den besonderen Strukturen der späten römischen Republik.
Vor diesem Hintergrund werde ich eingangs die Faktoren der republikanischen Krise darstellen, die mir für die Erörterung der oben genannten Problematik wichtig erscheinen. Dabei kommt es mir insbesondere darauf an, die Eigentümlichkeit der republikanischen Krise herauszuarbeiten.
Des Weiteren werde ich auf die Vorbedingungen bzw. Vorgeschichte des Jahres 59 v. Chr., auf das sog. erste Triumvirat, und auf das Konsulatsjahr selber eingehen unter der Fragestellung: Wie konnte es zu einem derartigen Konflikt zwischen einem Konsul und dem Senat überhaupt kommen? Bei der Darstellung des Jahres 59 v. Chr. kommt es mir auch darauf an, auf die Problematik der römischen Verfassung hinzuweisen.
Die dieser Hausarbeit zugrunde liegenden Quellen beziehen sich zu einem großen Teil auf die aus senatorischer Sicht geschriebene „römische Geschichte“ von Cassius Dio und auf Suetons Kaiserbiographie über Caesar. Des Weiteren stütze ich mich auf die Parallelbiographie über Caesar und Alexander von Plutarch.

About the Author
In his current role as consultant, Paul LaNasa serves industry and manufacturers in instrumentation and energy resource management. In 1983 Paul became Vice President, Director of Marketing at Nutech Industries, a start-up computer company and served on the Board of Directors. He entered the oil and gas industry with Daniel Industries (now part of Emerson) in 1969 where he worked for 14 years as product development specialist, product manager, and the manager of technical sales and marketing. And he worked with the Boeing Co. doing research analysis in thermodynamics and life support and environmental control on the Apollo program in 1965. Paul has been active in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Instrument Society of America (ISA), American Gas Association (AGA), International School of Hydrocarbon Measurement (ISHM), National Bureau of Standards (NBS), Southern Gas Association (SGA), and other schools and societies.

This is a very good book if you are looking for a compact book in flow measurement. I'm so excited for you to make this jump with me from my usual romantic suspense to urban fantasy. I think if you're a fan of my writing that you'll like the book no matter what the genre. Urban Fantasy can best be described as a mix of all genres (fantasy, romance, mystery, suspense, paranormal) and then setting it in our modern world as if we lived with things outside the norm on a daily basis, which would make it normal, right?
I loved writing BREATH OF FIRE and Rena is one of my favorite female characters (picture Kate Beckinsale from Underworld). I think fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Laurell K. Hamilton, and Kim Harrison will love this book.

Fantastic new series with Dragons...and more!!!!

Liliana Hart has created a new series that is sure to capture all dragon lovers and those that love paranormal/fantasy in the first book of the Rena Drake series...Breath of Fire. Fabulous setup of the beginnings of this fascinating world of dragons existing amongst humankind while at war with each other. Rena is a wonderful heroine...and Julian is a sexy beast of a dragon who brings both ecstasy and horror of revelations to Rena and her clan. This first book is filled with magic, loads of action, dragons, mystery, intrigue and hints of other kinds to come...and I just loved it. Highly recommended and can't wait for the next in this series. Kudos to the author...wonderful job!

new way of writing for Lilana Hart well done!!

I don't usually read fantasy books but I read most of Lilana Hart's other books and this one is a change for the best. It captors you and I couldn't put it down for a second! I was reading while at work ( damn you Kindle for pc!)

Most of her books have more passion and heat,love and lots of sex and steamy ones which I love to read. but this time you can tell she improved her writing and it's full on romance fantasy novel with great sex and passion and heat. With more graphic details about the characters and their history, and the background is drawing you in to the Drakan's world, with their blue mating fire and the attraction to Rena and Julian's world. You just fall in love with them. you ache when they're in pain it's really a captivating story!

because it has a complex storyline, there are too much details, information that seems important for us, so we can know the characters and background .It did keep me a bit detached from the book somethimes and i couldn't remember who has what and what it meant and I hate when that happens
overall liked the book it's worth every dollar!
I can't believe I have to wait for the second book it's hard!.

I am most excited about Ms. Hart's unique world of Dragons. It is unlike any dragon books I have read before. It is not of magic and fairytales, but a dark world full of power, danger, and violence. These dragons' constant battle for power and survival making the plot full of non-stop action and drama. I was totally and utterly enthralled while reading this book.

The Drakan are a race of dragons that were banished to earth from their realm eleven thousand years ago. Five Clans remain in this world and since then, and it is prophesized that there will be one dragon that will be King and will rule their world back to greatness. Unfortunately, it is also in that prophecy that the "Destroyer" has the power to wipe off humanity and their race from existence.

Rena as the "Enforcer" is responsible to find this "destroyer" and pretty much the race's survival is on her shoulders. Talk about pressure, right? No, she is not a damsel in distress; in fact, Rena is actually a very strong heroine physically and mentally. Despite the abuse from her peers and family, she will prove her worth in a big way. The blurb mentioned of a love triangle between Noah Ford, an FBI agent and Julian, one of the Arcos(leader) of the dragon clans. Both men are definitely sexy, but I found myself drawn to Julian who has a great deal of power over his clan. This book focused on Rena and Julian's relationship and their connection to the dragon politics. I have to say it's all very intriguing. And damn, Rena and Julian are pretty damn hot together. I'm not quite sure how Ms. Hart will fit in a third party in their relationship, but there seems to be a promise of some angst. Noah, our sexy FBI, did not have much playing time , but from how this book ended, I don't think we've seen the last of him.

The world building is wonderfully done, without in any anyway overwhelming me as a reader. I do admit that I had to pay attention to the family/clan dynamics and most importantly, the prophecies. The characters roles in this world really comes from a long line of blood ties and their powers are pertinent to how pure they are. I love that this world is not just limited to one clan but five. It gives you an impression of how big Ms. Hart's dragon world is. And I assure you, it's world you won't want to miss. Breath of Fire is an impressive start to this series!
