Er ist, wie der Name schon sagt, männlich, ein respektabler Ansprechpartner für den Bürger auf der Straße und er ist Deutscher, wie es bis 1990 auch faktisch der Fall sein musste.

Dieser Essay beschäftigt sich mit den Abweichungen von diesem klischeehaften „Idealbild“ des Polizeibeamten: Etwas mehr als ein Drittel der neu eingestellten Beamten sind Schutzfrauen und auch die zunehmende Zahl der Polizeibeamten mit Migrationshintergrund weichen das oben skizzierte Bild des klassischen Schutzmannes auf. Mehr noch: Das Bild des guten Schutzmannes wirkt überholt und wenig beeindruckend beim Anblick einer martialisch auftretenden Beweissicherungs- und Festnahmeeinheit (BFE).

Es war bis in die 1980er Jahre nicht selbstverständlich, dass Frauen Zugang zur Berufssparte Polizei haben und bis in die 1990er Jahre, wie bereits erwähnt, sogar per Gesetz unmöglich, dass Migranten Teil dieser Organisation sein können. Auch waren Sondereinheiten wie die BFE, Inbegriff der Durchsetzung des Gewaltmonopols des Staates, bis 1985 unbekannt. Die Polizei hat sich weiter entwickelt und es gibt mittlerweile viele Arten, den Beruf des „Schutzmannes“ auszuüben.

The author addresses this gap, illustrating the causes, developments, context and conclusions (or absence of them) of conflicts in the South Asian region.

The subject is vitally important, not least because the two leading states, India and Pakistan, are both nuclear powers who have resorted to war with each other on a number of occasions since independence. In addition, the insurgencies of the last fifty years continue to destabilize the states of the region, and now the rest of the world. The global context of these campaigns are analyzed from the end of empire, through the Cold War, to the global effort against terrorism today. Highly topical, this book will be of interest not only to students and scholars, but to a wide general audience as well.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Afrika, Note: 1,7, Universität zu Köln (Anglo-Amerikanische Abteilung des Historischen Seminars), 10 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Nur einen Tag nach Erklärung des Ausnahmezustandes im Oktober 1952, die im Zuge der Auseinandersetzungen mit den Rebellen der sogenannten Mau-Mau-Bewegung als wirkungsvolle Maßnahme zur Wiederherstellung von Ruhe und Ordnung erachtet worden war, wurden in der britischen Kolonie Kenia zahlreiche afrikanische politische Führer verhaftet.1 Einer von ihnen war Jomo Kenyatta, obwohl er die Anschläge der Mau-Mau in seinen Reden, die er teilweise sogar auf Wunsch der Regierung gehalten hatte, öffentlich immer heftiger kritisierte und verurteilte.2 Sein erstmals 1938 veröffentlichtes Werk Facing Mount Kenya, welches die traditionelle Lebensweise des Kikuyu-Stammes beschreibt und später von vielen Europäern als „blueprint for revolution“3 bezeichnet wurde, soll dieser Hausarbeit als Quelle zugrunde liegen um zu klären, inwiefern die Konfrontation zwischen traditionellem Stammesleben und der veränderten sozialen und kulturellen Situation während des kolonialen Regimes zu dem Aufstand beigetragen hat. Hierfür werde ich zunächst auf den geschichtlichen Hintergrund eingehen und über eine Quellenkritik zur eigentlichen Fragestellung gelangen.

Consistent with the valence politics model, partisan attachments display individual- and aggregate-level dynamics that reflect ongoing judgements about the managerial abilities of parties and their leaders. A general incentives model provides the best explanation of turnout. Calculations of the costs and
influence-discounted benefits of voting and sense of civic duty are key variables in this model. Significantly, the decline in turnout in recent elections does not reflect more general negative trends in public attitudes about the political system. Voters judge the performance of British democracy in much
the same way as they evaluate its parties and politicians. Support at all levels of the system is a renewable resource, but one that must be renewed. A command of theory, data, models, and method ensure that Political Choice in Britain will be a major resource for all those interested in elections, voting, and democracy.

Ein immer wieder aktuelles und umstrittenes Thema, das häufig zu großen Diskussionen
in der Bevölkerung führt, sind die Altersvorsorgeregelungen in einer Gesellschaft. Denn
jede Person in einem Staat ist davon betroffen oder wird es zukünftig sein und sollte
sich zwangsläufig und frühzeitig damit auseinander setzen. So wird auch in Frankreich
heftig über die Grundsätze und vor allem die Finanzierung des Rentensystems diskutiert
und gestritten.
In der vorliegenden Hausarbeit möchte ich einige wichtige Punkte in der geschichtlichen
Entwicklung des französischen Alterssicherungssystems hervorheben, um das heute
existierende System besser verstehen zu können. Anschließend werde ich es in seinem
Aufbau erläutern.
Wie auch in Deutschland, stellt vor allem die Finanzierung der Renten in Frankreich ein
gewaltiges Problem dar. Ich möchte daher auf die aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Probleme,
die es zu überwinden gilt, eingehen.
Die große Reform im letzten Jahr sollte einige Schwachstellen beheben und die
Rentengestaltung an aktuelle Herausforderungen anpassen. Da es auch hierbei
Schwierigkeiten und enormen Widerstand in der Bevölkerung gab, gilt es, die
wichtigsten Änderungen vorzustellen.
Ich werde an Textstellen, an denen es sich anbietet immer wieder eine
Gegenüberstellung und Vergleiche zu Deutschland anbringen und auch Bezug zur
Stellung Frankreichs in Europa nehmen. Man findet jedoch keinen vollständigen
Vergleich zwischen dem deutschen und dem französischen Rentensystem.
Aus Aktualitätsgründen des von mir bearbeiteten Themas dieser Hausarbeit habe ich
vorwiegend Internetquellen zur Informationsbeschaffung verwendet. Die Fakten
stammen jedoch hierbei hauptsächlich von amtlichen Seiten.

The distinguished group of contributors examine the theory and practice of justice and law in Roman imperial wars and administration; Gentili's use of Roman materials; the influence on Gentili of Vitoria and Bodin and his impact on Grotius and Hobbes; and the ideas and influence of Gentili and other major thinkers from the 16th to the 18th centuries on issues such as preventive self-defence, punishment, piracy, Europe's political and mercantile relations with the Ottoman Empire, commerce and trade, European and colonial wars and peace settlements, reason of state, justice, and the relations between natural law and observed practice in providing a normative and operational basis for international relations and what became international law.

This book explores how both the theory and the practice of international politics was framed in ways that built on these Roman private law and public law foundations, including concepts of rights. This history of ideas has continuing importance as European ideas of international law and empire have become global, partly accepted and partly contested elsewhere in the world.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Sonstiges, Note: 1,7, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (Institut für Publizistik), Veranstaltung: Übung, 4 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Unter der Schlagzeile „Die große deutsche Angst“ berichtet die Süddeutsche Zeitung vom 27.07.2005 über eine aktuelle Studie des Marktforschungsinstituts GfK (vgl. Bovensiepen 2005). Die Studie behandelt die Angst der Deutschen vor Arbeitslosigkeit. Demnach emp-finden 81 Prozent der Bevölkerung die Arbeitslosigkeit als gravierendes Problem. Das Bei-spiel zeigt: Angst ist als ständiger Begleiter des Menschen präsent, und zwar nicht nur, wenn es um den eigenen Arbeitsplatz geht. Ob Krankheiten, Unfälle, Naturkatastrophen: Der Mensch hat mehr oder weniger viel Angst vor allerlei Ereignissen, die möglicherweise Wirklichkeit werden. Angst ist mitunter der größte Geschäftspartner von Versicherungen, die ihr Geld schließlich damit verdienen, durch finanzielle Absicherung von Hausrat, Haftpflicht oder Unfall die Angst ihrer Kunden zu mindern.
Dennoch muss die Frage erlaubt sein, ob es in der Realität tatsächlich der Fall ist, dass die meisten Menschen angsterfüllt ihren Alltag bestreiten und froh sind, wenn ihre Ängste Fiktion bleiben. Hier kann man die Überlegung heranziehen, dass ein Mensch gar nicht überlebensfähig sein kann, wenn er ständig in Angst lebt. Es scheint also so zu sein, dass Risiken nur selektiv und damit äußerst unterschiedlich wahrgenommen werden. Diese An-nahme zieht die Frage nach sich, von welchen Faktoren die individuelle Risikowahrneh-mung abhängt.
In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden daher anhand von Daten aus einer im Jahr 2004 durch-geführten Umfrage mögliche Zusammenhänge aufgezeigt, inwieweit unterschiedliche Le-bensbereiche von der Risikowahrnehmung betroffen sind. Zunächst folgt daher eine Vor-stellung der Umfrage anhand der darin für diese Arbeit enthaltenen relevanten Themen und der angewandten Methode. Anschließend wird anhand von Schaubildern, Tabellen und Beschreibungen veranschaulicht, wie die Risikoeinschätzung allgemein aussieht, bevor sie im Zusammenhang mit weiteren Faktoren wie dem Geschlecht, Alter oder einem sportlich aktiven Lebensstil genauer untersucht wird. Auch die Frage, ob ein Risiko anders einge-schätzt wird, wenn man es schon einmal selbst oder im engeren persönlichen Umfeld erlebt hat, wird hier behandelt. Den Schluss der Ausführungen bildet eine Zusammenfassung der gewonnenen Erkenntnisse.
