Explosion Protection focuses on improving safety, optimising expenditure and clarifying and simplifying the standards and directives that surround this area.
The purpose of this book is to prevent the ignition of combustible gases, vapours, mist or dusts in chemical, oil and gas plants, and in underground coal mines. Different types of explosion protection are thoroughly described and illustrations of appropriate apparatus for each situation are included. Apparatus for installation in zone 0 and zone 2 are given special attention.
The clear explanation of national and international standards and directives means hazardous areas can easily be classified into zones. Procedures required for approval are also described, with reference to combustible substances, marking requirements and explosion protected apparatus.
Guidance on the selection of equipment, to suit the required level of safety, is provided. This avoids overspending on high specification equipment that is not necessary. Information on inspection, maintenance and repair of explosion protected equipment will also help to contain costs.
Heinrich Groh has almost 30 years' experience in the area of Explosion Protection and for over 20 years has been a member of national and international standardization committees including CENELEC and IEC.
