Egon Friedell (bis 1916 Friedmann) wurde am 21. Januar 1878 in Wien geboren. Er studierte Philosophie und Germanistik und promovierte 1904 mit einer Arbeit über 'Novalis als Philosoph'. Als Dramatiker, Kabarettist und Theaterkritiker, als Freund von Peter Altenberg und Alfred Polar gehörte er zu den bestimmenden Persönlichkeiten des Wiener Kulturlebens. Von 1922 bis 1927 war er Schauspieler bei Max Reinhardt in Berlin und Wien, dann freier Schriftsteller. Berühmt machte ihn seine 'Kulturgeschichte der Neuzeit' (3 Bände 1927-1931). Kurz nach dem deutschen Einmarsch in Österreich nahm sich Friedell am 16. März 1938 das Leben.

About the Author
Brad Wilcox is an associate professor in the department of Teacher Education at Brigham Young University, where he also works with programs such as Especially for Youth and Campus Education Week. As a young man, he served his mission in Chile, and he was later called back to that country to preside over the Chile Santiago East Mission from 2003 to 2006. He currently serves as a member of the Sunday School general board. Brad is the author of the bestselling book The Continuous Atonement and the BYU devotional His Grace Is Sufficient. He and his wife, Debi, are the parents of four children and grandparents of three.

New Insights on Conversion

So many of us feel that we just don't measure up or can't make it into heaven. Mr. Wilcox addresses this very issue in his newest book The Continuous Conversion. "We aren't earning our way into heaven were are learning our way into heaven."

The entire book is filled with the profound idea that we are making it there step by step and that the path to becoming a better person takes a gradual and continual progress over time. Conversion is not a fast or "on the surface" change, it is a deep rooted and little by little, day by day-- totally achievable goal.

As a former missionary in Chile I could relate to his examples from the field there. My favorite stories were of him reaching to youth at EFY and prisoners who had and had not experienced conversion. Brother Wilcox has a deep love for others and his counsel is filled with compassion.

Each chapter of The Continuous Conversion has a theme with so many hopeful point of doctrine to ponder. Temple worship, repentance, the names we are given and serving with zeal are some of the topics addressed. This book should and could be read more than once.
Brother Wilcox really helped me look at things in a completely new light and I would love to hear this one in audio so we can listen to it again and again as these are lessons for everyone that make an impression on the soul.

Insightful, Meaningful, and Relatable

A beautiful companion to the Continuous Atonement! I loved the idea of the bread and water on the two covers. Very symbolic. Every page of this new book provided great insight. It helped me understand grace, the Atonement, and the Gospel in new ways.
Each chapter was meaningful because they dealt with real issues and things we encounter daily in our lives. The stories and examples shared were relatable and moving.
As always Brad Wilcox's books are hopeful and inspiring. He has a way of motivating me to try harder rather than feeling guilty about not doing enough. I loved the understanding that came from his simple analogies and honest approach. He has a gift for sharing his knowledge in a way that makes sense and doesn't get boring.

I feel confident buying any Brad Wilcox book.

Brad Wilcox is one of my favorite authors. I saw him speak at a time out for women and went running up to him because I had to have him sign one of the other books he has written, "The Continuous Atonement". He writes books that are intelligent, but easy to read. He gives great insights that make his subject matter easier to understand without dumbing it down. He issues lots of personal experiences and personal stories, too, which I love. I would highly recommend him. I encourage people all the time to read his books, but rarely do I lend them out because I always want to keep a copy at home for my own reference. Love his writing.

Outstanding and In-Depth

I purchased this book even before I was a college student. Half way through my junior year, I continue to reference this outstanding resource in many of my research papers. No dumbing down in this text--it's depth and comprehensiveness is integral to its appeal and usefulness. I would love to see an update especially in light of the advances in ecological restoration and geotechnologies; but, "Limnolody" is a must for anyone who wants to understand water and/or riparian ecology. Kudo's to Wetzel!

How do you rate it? It all depends how you want to use it.

Wetzel's "Limnology" is almost certainly a fixture on the bookshelf of every limnologist in the country (perhaps even the world).

1) Review of this product as a reference book:

Wetzel has been a leader in the field of Limnology for decades. This book contains a combination of his vast personal experience with the enormous amount of information that has been generated through the end of the 1990s. The book, perhaps more approprately referred to as a tome, addresses virtually every sub-discipline included in the field of limnology. And, the book is well cited, with well over 100 pp of citations.

The book contains abundant examples, explanations, and descriptions of all things limnological. He has also beefed his treatment of rivers and streams, which was more or less missing in the 1st edition. Still, the strength of this book is clearly the information on ponds and lakes.

This is an outstanding reference book - I'd probably award it 4 or 4.5 stars if a reference is all it were used for (it is a bit out of date now).

2) Review of this product at a textbook:

My first limnology course used Wetzel's first edition...a much smaller book, and much more easily digested than either the second or third editions. That was in my first year of graduate school. Since then Wetzel's book increased in size by format and number of pages in the 2nd editon, and even moreso in the 3rd edition.

The third edition can be downright intimidating when you see it.

The third edition's usefulness as a reference book has increased greatly, but at the cost of reducing its usefullness as a text. I am still weighing my options about a text for my limnology class in the fall (I wasn't pleased with Kalff's offering - the book I used last time), but I wonder whether Wetzel's 3rd edition is just too big, too long, and too focused on being a reference book rather than a textbook.

I noticed that little has been updated in terms of figures...I still recognize many of the figures from the 1st edition that are still in the 3rd. The impression I get from this book is that this is more or less Wetzel's crowning achievement in terms of a complete treatment of the discipline, but that has been achieved mainly by adding to what he already had rather than by editing and updating. And, with a 2001 publication date, this edition is now in serious need of further updating and revision.

I wish someone would take this project on, update it, revise it, and whittle it down to a lean and mean useful text of perhaps 600 pages.

I'm still in a quandry about using it as a textbook.

I'm afraid that I have to give it 3 or 3.5 stars as a textbook because of its massive bulk, the intimidation factor, and it's being somewhat out of date.

All in all, I still like this book better than that of Kalff.

Die effektive Steuerbelastung für grenzüberschreitende Investitionen im Jahr 2004 betrug im Durchschnitt 23,9% und lag damit um 12,1 Prozentpunkte unter der Deutschlands. Seit dem Beitritt Ungarns zur Europäischen Union im Mai 2004 haben Investitionen aus Sicht ausländischer Investoren noch mehr an Bedeutung gewonnen.


Im Folgenden soll vor allem auf ausgewählte Aspekte des ungarischen Steuerrechts, aber auch auf die Verbindung zum österreichischen Steuerrecht eingegangen werden. Im Einzelnen soll die ertragssteuerliche Behandlung auf Gesellschaftsebene als auch auf Gesellschafterebene erläutert werden, wobei diese Erläuterungen lediglich zentral eingehobene Ertragssteuern, nämlich die Einkommensteuer, Körperschaftsteuer und Dividendensteuer berücksichtigen.

Neben Obengenanntem sollen weiters auch einschlägige Themen und Rahmenbedingungen der Rechnungslegung und Abschlussprüfung in Ungarn thematisiert werden.
Der Inhalt der gesamten Arbeit wird begrenzt durch die Bedingung einer Unternehmensgründung in Ungarn. Darunter fallen die Gründung eines Einzelunternehmens einerseits sowie die Gründung ungarischer Wirtschaftsgesellschaften andererseits.

Gegen Ende der Abhandlung soll noch auf ausgewählte Sonderfälle eingegangen werden: So gewährt Ungarn für Unternehmen, die eine Geschäftstätigkeit ausschließlich außerhalb Ungarns forcieren, einen besonders niedrigen Steuersatz. Als zweites Sonderproblem genauer untersucht wird die Behandlung doppelt ansässiger Gesellschaften bzw. die Sitzverlegung von in Ungarn gegründeten Gesellschaften; dies wiederum schwerpunktmäßig aus der Sicht Österreichs.

James Quinn is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and executive producer. During a fifteen-year career in television, his films have won both critical acclaim and widespread popularity with audiences. He has also written a PhD in philosophy and taught at university level, and is currently working on a feature documentary for theatrical release.
