Transforming IT Culture is the most meaningful, substantial, concise and objective book in IT Management I have ever read!
By fcovas
As Tech Managers we all understand the importance of IT governance, strategic alignment between business and IT, disciplined project management activities, culture, performing teams, power and influence. There are many articles, books and material that cover in depth those aspects, and tech managers can feed themselves with crucial information and knowledge on these topics. However, Frank Wander's Transforming IT Culture (with forewords of Arthur Langer - Columbia University) will resonate powerfully with your mind and heart. In my opinion this book delivers the most significant message to be considered and urgently followed by all IT Executives: The most important aspect of driving IT success has been pathologically and blindly neglected by Corporate America.
All IT managers and corporate executives should read this book. It will not only open your eyes to a cancer that has been affecting and irrationally deteriorating Corporate America for years, but also it will help you to become a better leader and improve your capacity of choosing the people that will lead your organization to success. This book has been written by a true leader, it is a must read and it will definitely affect the quality of your personal life as well. Frank's passionate, thoughtful, and knowledgeable words will touch the root of successful leadership: your heart.

Not Just Theory or Academic Debate
By Todd Peters
Not another collection of untested theory or academic debates, this book is filled with proven and effective culture-changing techniques. As a member of Frank Wander's leadership team for over five years, I personally witnessed the organizational transformation from a toxic and unproductive environment to a collaborative and significantly more dynamic team culture. The tone in IT improved from one of fear and drudgery to one of challenge and excitement. I know what approach I will use in my new CIO role.

A Must Read for any serious manager
By Mark Elder
I thought this was a very good book indeed. So many "how to" management books fundamentally fail to understand that successful teams and projects ultimately depend on the state of mind of the team members, not the "brilliant mind" of the Executive or Manager barking the orders from the top of the Totem Pole or some other Methodology for software development or project management.
I think this should be a must-read with an open mind of any Executive, Manager or aspiring Manager that truly wants to get the best out of their teams. The book needs to be read with an open mind because the vast majority of managers are going to see elements of themselves in the case studies and descriptions and like all good feedback - they aren't going to like some of it.
