So wird zwar gefordert, Kindern und Jugendlichen einen sachgerechten und kritischen Umgang mit Medien zu vermitteln, Medienkompetenz wird als Qualifikation allerdings immer noch nicht benotet, wenngleich die Forderung besteht, den kompetenten Umgang mit dem Internet, den Kulturtechniken Lesen, Schreiben, Rechnen hinzuzufügen.

Im Rahmen dieser Hausarbeit sollen die Konsequenzen für die Stadtentwicklung beleuchtet werden, die sich aus der Etablierung von Einkaufszentren auf der ‚grünen Wiese’ ergeben. Als ‚grüne Wiese’ bezeichnet man stadtperiphere Standorte. Im Zuge der Gewerbesuburbanisierung ist eine Konkurrenzsituation zwischen den Einkaufsstandorten ‚City’ und ‚grüne Wiese’ entstanden. Diese Konkurrenzsituation gilt es im ersten Teil der Arbeit näher zu betrachten. Besonderes Augenmerk soll hierbei auf die Vor-und Nachteile der jeweiligen Standorte gelegt werden. Im zweiten Teil werden Maßnahmen vorgestellt, die den Einkaufsstandort ‚City’ stärken und attraktiver machen sollen. Diese Maßnahmen, welche sich aus den Vor- und Nachteilen der jeweiligen Standort ableiten sollen exemplarisch anhand der Bremer Stadtentwicklung verdeutlicht werden. Als Beispiele für zwei Formen der Einkaufszentren auf der ‚grünen Wiese’ werden der Weserpark in Bremen-Osterholz und der Ochtum-Park in Brinkum/Stuhr herangezogen. Der Weserpark kann unterschiedlichen Autoren nach als Shopping Center (vgl. FALK 1998:16, zitiert in HEINRITZ 2003:116), als Allroundcenter oder Megazentrum (vgl. BASTIAN 1999:25,26) bezeichnet werden. Im weiteren Verlauf wird zumeist von Einkaufszentren die Rede sein, damit sind dem Weserpark vergleichbare Objekte gemeint. Der Ochtum-Park ist als Factory-Outlet-Center einzustufen (HEINRITZ ET AL. 2003:119).

About the Author

José Miguel Aguilera is a professor in the College of Engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). A chemical engineer (PUC, 1971) he received a master of science from MIT (1973), a doctorate from Cornell University (1976), both with specialization in food technology, and an MBA from Texas A&M University (1983). He has been the Head of the Department of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering at PUC, Associate Dean for Development and the Director of Research and Postgraduate Studies in the School of Engineering.

Dr. Aguilera is the author or editor of 13 books, 25 book chapters, and more than 170 articles on food technology and food engineering in international journals. He has been or is on the editorial committee of six international science journals, including Journal of Food Science, Food Engineering, and Trends in Food Science and Technology. He has been a visiting professor at the University of California at Davis, Cornell University, and Technical University Munich, a technical consultant for the FAO, and a scientific advisor for the Nestlé Research Center in Switzerland, for more than 12 years.

Among his most significant awards are fellowships from the Fullbright Commission (1989) and the Guggenheim Foundation (1991), and the Alexander von Humboldt Prize for Research (Berlin, 2002). In the US he has received the International Award (1993), Research and Development Award (2005), and the Marcel Loncin Research Prize (2006), all from the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). He was appointed a commander in the Order of Orange-Nassau by the Dutch government, and is a Fellow of the IFT and the International Association of Food Science and Technology. In 2008 he was awarded the National Prize for Applied Science and Technology, the highest scientific honor in Chile, and in 2010 was first Chilean to become a foreign associate member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, for his contributions to the understanding of the role of food structures and their properties.

Das WTO Überein-kommen ist das Ergebnis langwieriger Verhandlungen im Rahmen der so genannten Uruguay-Runde zwischen den Jahren 1986 bis 1993. Diese Übereinkünfte haben das GATT 1947 in etlichen Bereichen ausdifferenziert und die Reichweite des internationalern Wirtschaftsrechts durch die Einbeziehung des Dienstleistungshandels und des geistigen Eigentums erweitert. Weiterhin haben sich die WTO Mitglieder verpflichtet, Streitigkeiten über ihre Rechte und Pflichten aus diesen Übereinkünften nach den Regeln eines Streitschlichtungssystems beizulegen. Dies ist in dieser Form im Völkerrecht einmalig und hat die WTO im Vergleich zum GATT stark verrechtlich und zu dessen Erfolg beigetragen.

Ziel des damaligen GATT`s und heute der WTO ist der Abbau von Zöllen und sonstigen Handelshemmnissen, sowie die Beseitigung von Diskriminierung, was zu einer allgemeinen Erhöhung des Lebensstandards führen soll. Ziel dieser Seminararbeit soll es sein ansatzweise Gesamtzusammenhänge und Grundstrukturen des GATT und der WTO aufzuzeigen. Es soll die historische Entwicklung des GATT und der WTO beleuchtet, sowie dessen Grundprinzipien und wichtigsten Regelungen vorgestellt werden.
Zunächst soll die Entstehungsgeschichte des GATT und der WTO bis zur Uruguay-Runde erläutert werden. Der Fokus dieser Seminararbeit liegt auf der neuen WTO und den damit verbundenen Grundprinzipien des GATT 1994. Die Grundprinzipien werden anhand der wichtigsten im Übereinkommen festgeschriebenen Artikel erläutert. Als letztes soll das neue Streitschlichtungssystem der WTO dargestellt werden.
