Der Fokus richtet sich auf die technischen Gesichtspunkte und zu einem gewissen Teil auf die historische Entwicklung, wirtschaftliche Aspekte werden nicht berücksichtigt. Interessant ist die zunehmende Integration der vergleichsweise alten mit der neuen Technik, sodass der Mensch sich Techniken zunutze machen kann, die ohne diese „Symbiose“ nicht möglich wären.
