Trevor Turpin is a visiting lecturer at the University of Bath and has worked in water and environmental management since the early 1970s. He is also coauthor of Environmental Impact Assessment Handbook.

Tinkering with dams.

If you are interested in dams, this should interest you. It is one of the "Objekt" series. I found it to be interesting but the writing is not up to the usual standard of this series--a judgment call, of course. It also focuses a bit too much on the UK. The photos are good, but not so good as usual in the series. It is full of interesting information. There isn't so much on design and operation of dams.
The book is best, I think, on the Aswan dams on the Nile. There is also a chapter on challenges to dam-building projects. Turpin writes that with increasing concern about global warming, hydropower may make a comeback and so, more dams.
