Mark Baker provides a "crash course" in the fundamental theory, concepts, and terminology of mixed signal devices and systems and the techniques used to test them. Mixed signal devices/systems include analog to digital and digital to analog converters, digital signal processing, phase-locked loops (PLLs), compact disc (CD) and digital video disc (DVD) players and recorders―in short, almost any system or device that processes real-world analog data in digital form uses mixed signals technology and will require engineers to have an understanding of the techniques described in this book.

About the Author
Mark Baker has been a test engineer for such companies as Spectra-Physics, Zilog, Pragmatic Test Systems, Schlumberger, Teradyne, and EPRO. In 1997, he founded his own company, TechniCom, which was devoted to technical training courses and seminars; one of their courses was on mixed-signal testing. In the fall of 2001, TechniCom was acquired by Texas Instruments and Baker is now a technical training manager for TI. Baker has published numerous in-house application articles for the ATE companies Teradyne and Schlumberger as well as articles in Electronics Test and Evaluation Engineering magazines.

Great reference for Test Engineers

I am currently using this book to create tests for two mixed signal devices that have an ADC and DAC on board. I am new to mixed signal test, but the book is making my job practically easy to generate the required tests. The author makes testing mixed signal almost enjoyable, if that is possible. I highly recommend this book for mixed signal test techniques. It is clear the author has much experience in the field.
